13-14 Panini Titanium Box Break (Part 1)

I am here with a story to tell before I get onto the box. A few weeks ago, Panini announced an autograph signing of Adam Henrique:
I decided to attend the signing today in Howell, New Jersey. I met Adam and I had a great time talking to him. He signed a couple of base cards I had sitting around my desk. It was a great event and it was a pleasure to meet him. Not too long after that, the store was holding a raffle. The raffle prize was two hobby boxes of 13-14 Panini Titanium. I decided to enter and I waited until the held the raffle. They were announcing the names and I was waiting for the ticket. They read the numbers and it turns out. I WON!!! I was very happy at the moment and received many Congratulations. I thanked the Panini representative and the store owner. As soon as I got home, I opened the box. I was not expecting anything big, but I was wrong. Here are the results of my break. But first, here are is Henrique card I got signed:

Now I thought that was the hit of the box and I was probably getting a jersey of some sort in the last pack. Nope, I got one of the nicest cards in the product…

15/25…..
Autograph…..
Dual Patches……
ALEX….
GALENCHENYUK…..

BOOM!
A great hit to end of a single box. I was very happy with this pull.
I will bust the second box next week some time….
Everything is For Sale / For Trade.
Thank You for looking and comments are always appreciated.

Recent Pickups

Over the last few months, I was able to pickup a couple new cards to my Devils PC as well as obtain other new cards too.

Image

I got these cards 13-14 Panini Prizm cards in target value packs.

Image

I added to my Devils PC by buying 3 new Stefan Matteau cards. I got his 13-14 Score RC, 13-14 Trilogy Rookie Premieres Autograph 108/699, and his 13-14 Artifacts Rookie Card. I pulled the 13-14 Score Signatures card of Denis Savard in a 13-14 Score Jumbo Pack, and the Prizm RC was obtained through a pack of Prizm. I received the 3 Upper Deck jersey cards through a box of 12-13 Upper Deck Series 1. I got UD Game Jerseys of Jeff Carter, Josh Bailey (patch 7/15), and Victor Hedman.

11-12 O-Pee-Chee Box Break

Not too long ago, I received a box of 11-12 O-Pee-Chee hockey. The brand, O-Pee-Chee, is produced by Upper Deck but originated from Frank Leclair. There were 36 cards per box and 6 cards per pack. So there were a vast amount of cards that I got. Let’s see how I did:

127 base cards (6 cards per pack)

Image      Image

At 6 cards per pack, I found a ton of base cards. In O-Pee-Chee, I roughly averaged about two inserts (includes retro variations) and four base cards per pack. The design of the base cards are a change from previous years of O-Pee-Chee. There is a contemperary look with the blue border surrounding the cards.

 37 Retro variations 1:1

Image   Image

Retro Variations come in every pack. They have a nice plain look with different colors on different cards. I got 37 of these because one of the packs had two of them in it. Here are some of my favorite Retro Variations I pulled:

2 Team Leaders – OPC Inserts 1:4

Image

These cards feature a team’s stats with their best players (in that particular category) on each card. I got “team leader’s” cards of the Columbus Blue Jackets and the San Jose Sharks.

1 League Leaders – OPC Inserts 1:4

Image

Like the team leasers cards, the league leaders card features the league and the best player’s stats (particular category). On this card, I received the league leaders in the hitting department. Cal Clutterbuck, Tuomo Ruutu, and Dustin Brown are all pictured on this card.

1 Trophy Winners – OPC Inserts 1:4

Image

These cards feature a player that won an NHL award during the 10-11 season. Martin St.Louis was the winner of the Lady Byng trophy in the 2010-2011 NHL season.

4 Beard Variation Cards

Image

These cards are variations of the base cards. They have the payer pictured during the playoffs. During the playoffs, most players son’t shave and leave their beards on their faces. This is a subset devoted to that. I got beard variations of J.P Dumont (pictured in Sabres uniform), Eric Staal, Cam Ward, Joe Pavelski

8 Marquee Rookie Cards – 1:2 Rookies/Legends

Image

This is the rookie card subset in 11-12 O-Pee-Chee hockey. I got marquee rookie cards of Alex Stalock, Romin Wick, Yann Sauve, Carson McMillan, Carl Klingberg, Andre Benoit, Launce Bouma, and Justin Dibenedetto.

4 OPC Update Rookie cards– 1:12

Image

Mattias Tedenby, Eric Wellwood, Evgeny Grachev, Matt Hacket.

These are update rookies from 10-11 OPC. They have a white background and say 10-11 O-Pee-Chee on the back.

1 OPC Update Retro Variation Rookie Cards- 1:36

Image

These are a retro form of the 10-11 O-Pee-Chee update cards. I got 1 of the 10-11 O-Pee-Chee retro variation rookie cards. I pulled former Red Wing rookie Cory Emmerton.

10 O-Pee-Chee Marquee Legends – 1:2 Rookies/Legends

Image

This a subset devoted just to the legends of hockey. Every two packs you open, you will either find a legend or rookie card. I got 18 legends/rookies. The 1:2 ratio was very accurate because I got 18 legends/rookies in 36 packs.  I also got 2 foil legends cards as well. One regular and one black bordered foil.

9 Regular Foil Variation Cards

Image

I got 9 foil regular cards. These cards have foil and gloss all over the card. I really like these inserts. These cards are not serial numbered. I got Chris Butler, Max Pacioretty, Matt Greene, Al Montoya, Nicklas Backstrom, Tom Wandell, Sami Salo, Darroll Powe, Mark Messier (legends).

5 Black Bordered Foil Varation Cards

Image

Like the regular foil cards, these cards have gloss and foil all over it. Though, these cards are serial numbered unlike the regular foil cards. I got Erik Johnson, Andy Bathgate (legends), R.J Umberger, Derek Stepan, and Trevor Daley.

Here is a picture of the back of a black border foil card. Notice the 41/100 numbering.

Well, everything looked like a normal O-Pee-Chee box until…

BOOM!

1 O-Pee-Chee Souvenirs Jersey Card

Image

Really nice card here. Especially with the four-way jersey card instead of a standard jersey card. In addition to that, I also got the 2013 Stanley Cup Finalists the Boston Bruins. With four of their top players. I got Patrice Bergeron, Zdeno Chara, Tuukka Rask, and Tim Thomas.

Overall, I really like the 11-12 O-Pee-Chee product. There are a good amount of hockey cards and inserts.

Big Thanks to Upper Deck’s Chris Carlin for providing me with the box for the break.

2013-14 Score Hockey Hobby Jumbo Stars in Special Panini Unwrapped and SP Reveal

First off, let the Panini double rookie class season begin!!! 13-14 Score has taken the era of Score hockey to the next level. 11-12 Score was my favorite Score product until I saw this year’s product. This year, Score now has foil on the base cards. This is a nice addition to Score and something that was missing from Score in the previous years. Score hockey is mainly known for it’s base/rookies. 12-13 Score and older Score products rarely have hits. This year, Score has the base cards/rookies AND the hits that are usually harder to come by. This makes 13-14 Score hockey a very elite product. Score also has more bang for your buck because of the double rookie class. You get more rookies in one season than you usually have. That also means you will get more rookie cards than the normal amount. The Double Rookie Class behooves Score more than another Panini hockey product that will come out this year. The other thing that is different than other Score products are the packs and quantity. There are the regular packs, rack packs, and jumbo packs. These packs provide variety of selection to choose from. You can choose the regular packs, or you can buy a jumbo pack that contains 52 cards per pack. 52 cards is AMAZING for one pack of hockey cards. The packs are so big, they almost look mini boxes. In addition to that, these packs have autographs and jersey cards in them! (1 out of 10 jumbo packs for a jersey card) That is just incredible that at 52 cards per pack, you can also get an autograph or jersey card. Not only are the jersey cards generic. They have 8 players on them with their jerseys. This product has fantastic features. Score hockey now has the quantity and quality.

* Thank you Panini for this great product and this amazing contest!

Bitter Signatures: 12-13 Panini Certified Freshman Signatures # 165 Colby Robak

Image

Panini has done a fantastic job with this card. 12-13 Certified is a big ticket product from Panini. Certified has always found a way to impress me. No matter if it’s shiny and glossy or just a plain some ice background. Freshman signatures features a rookie autograph. Colby Robak is the player that I found on my freshman signature card in a recent pack break. Colby has played  19 games, tallying 0 goals & 1 assist in his career with the Florida Panthers. This card is serial numbered 23/25 and Colby’s signature is on a manufactored sticker. The fact that there are 25 copies in the world is cool. The shine and gloss of Certified cards adds an even nicer touch. Now Colby, is no all star obviosley, and scribbled his signature on this card. Colby wrote a “C” and then doodled lines of some sort after that. As a rookie, I would’ve honored if a somebody wanted my signature. I guess Colby has different thoughts.  Colby Robak has a very ugly signature.
